Anan

So this past weekend I had the opportunity to go out to Anan twice while Gregg was working. I had expressed an interest to go again so Gregg decided to ask one of the guides if I could hitch a ride out there. Jim, who took us up the river early in the summer, said I could go with him on Friday. So Friday morning I headed to the docks bright and early (before 7 am early) to get on the boat. I was so excited to see Gregg. Thankfully he was up at the deck instead of the trailhead so I got to spend more time with him. I was definitely more excited to see Gregg than the bears especially since the viewing is minimal. While up at the deck Gregg and I were talking with another of the local guides. She asked how many times I got to come out. When I told her that this was my first time this season, she immediately offered me another ride out for the next day. I said "OF COURSE!" which was a good thing because Jim didn't stay long.
Saturday morning I was down at the docks again, this time for a much better day for a couple of reasons. 1) Peter was coming out for his shift so that means that Gregg's boss and coworker were leaving, leaving Gregg in charge. 2) The group I went with stayed out at Anan for most of the day giving me lots more time with Gregg. :) The whole time I was out there I was with Gregg. I even got to eat lunch with him out on the float house. So pretty much it was fabulous. I got to see Gregg at work in his pickle green uniform, which he looks sexy in, and spend time with him. Plus I got to see bears, which is the real reason I went out in the first place. ;)

A black bear right by the deck.

Leftovers. Rotting salmon guts. Gross and super stinky.

Definitely my favorite!!

Turn Island

Last weekend Gregg and I went camping out at Turn Island. We both had the day off so spur of the moment we decided to go. It was a blast! It is a half mile hike down boardwalk from the road to the campsite. The campsite it right off the beach. There are two platforms big enough for a tent and a picnic table. There is a firepit on the beach protected by tree overhang. It is gorgeous!! We spent alot of our time fishing and I fell in love with it! Gregg promised that after his next shift he'd take me to go again. We caught a lot of bull fish and Gregg caught a couple trout. I almost caught two trout but they somehow managed to escape. Darn fish. While we were fishing we saw a whale, humpback style dive a few times. Total awesome sauce! Only bad part is that neither of us had a camera. Boo. Well well we had so much fun that we didn't want to leave. Hopefully we'll be able to go again sometime soon.

One thing that I absolutely love about Gregg is that he will be a dork with me.

My first of many bull fish. They aren't any good to eat but they were sure fun to catch.

Looking studly with one of his bull fish.

I spy with my little eye...............Can you see it?

Having a blast!

Vank Island

Our trip to Vank Island was a long time ago, but we wanted to post these photos because it was fun and could be fun in the future for us all too. We spent a couple of days out on Vanks Island as chaperons for the annual 8th grade field trip. Every year the 8th graders who do well in school get to go on an end of year trip where they have a few simple classes on sea shore survival. We were asked to accompany the youth and help teach some classes on shelter building. It was a fun experience for the both of us, but the real reason we wanted to post these pics because we think it's gorgeous and would like to do a family getaway on the island in the near future. There is plenty of lodging and space for everyone and we wanted to throw it out there now so that all could think about it and plan for it.

During the day...wonderful

A beautiful shot taken by Sarah of the gorgeous scenery and a few geese!

Random Fun

Aside from the exciting river trip and also the majestic wildlife we find ourselves doing an array of activities!

Working oh so very hard!!!

Doing all the dirty work!

The results of the home-run derby were positive for both Sarah and myself;
after all we dominated all the other poor participants!

River Trip

A couple weeks ago Gregg and I got to up the river. One of the local guides apparently really likes Gregg a lot because this is the second year in a row that he has taken us up the river for FREE! Usually a trip up the river is around $250 per person so I was pretty dang excited when he invited us a second time. Jim and Ivan are the best!!

Alaskan Summer

The thing that I probably love the most about being in Alaska is that it is so gorgeous here. We live right across the street from the ocean. This presents us with a constant beautiful view. It also gives us plenty of opportunities for beach combing and eagle baiting.

Barnacles as big as my finger.

Great blue heron, we like to stalk these.

First Timer

So this is somewhat unusual for me. I've never been a big follower of blogs. However this summer has presented me with lots of leisure time, more than I would've hoped for. Gregg is gone for days at a time with his work and I only work part-time. I tend to get bored a lot so I decided to try blogging. Who knows whether or not I'll actually continue to keep this up but I'll give it a whirl.
