One thing that I love about Gregg being a teacher is that he has built in holidays. A little of a week ago he had fall break so we headed down to my parents for the weekend. We had a blast hiking, playing games (So much so I ended up crying from laughing so hard)., having a picnic, playing with the neighbor boys, and riding 4-wheelers. Drew and Paige also came. They are so much fun. It was just the vacation we needed.
Libby loves to dance. Every time we turn on the tunes she busts out the moves. I have yet to get a video of fist pumping and hip swaying but this is adorable. Then again any video with these kids is cute. And yes that is Weird Al's "White and Nerdy".
Ok seriously, now this is just insane that I have a 3 year old. It is so crazy how fast it flies. Gregg and I talked a lot leading up to James' birthday about our memories of James' birth. It seems like it happened ages ago. Anyway despite the craziness of having a 3 year old, I am loving it. James is s sweet, sensitive, little boy who loves to be loud, do crazy tricks (sometimes dangerous), run, play with balls, loves to help around the house, teases his sister, loves to read stories, no longer takes naps, and has a new obsession with the garbage truck and garbage in general thanks to his buddy Max (Ok this actually has its perks. He likes to take out the trash and notices when the cans are full.).
James is random guy that definitely has his own ideas. Max just turned 4 so James thinks he is 4 like Max. If you ask him how old he is he'll say "4 going to be 5." We've tried to get him to say 3 but he won't. Oh well I guess he'll be 4 for a long time. James is easily excited. One day he was helping me put the groceries away when he discovered the mushrooms. You would have thought it was Christmas morning by how excited he was. He danced all over the kitchen shouting, "YAY MUSHROOMS! I LOVE MUSHROOMS!!!" Haha the kid cracks me up!
For James' birthday we had family over for dinner, cake and ice cream and presents. We lucked out this year because both of James' grandmas were in town and able to come! James loved opening his presents and was so excited about each one especially the fart gun (Thanks to Drew and Paige!). It was so much fun! Thanks to everyone who came! We really have the best family!
Such a cute kid!!
The infamous fart gun.
I'm pretty sure Katie helped blow out the candles.
His new bike that he loves and rides every day.
Obsession much? Max discovered this hiding place. Thankfully it is the recycle can but it still is pretty disgusting. And yes this is the only time I let him play in the garbage can.
Not sure why this is out of order but as you can see the fart gun was pretty stinkin' hilarious.
I sure love James and all his random craziness!! He definitely makes our home a happier place!
A week ago we decided to take some family photos after church. Taking pictures is always hit and miss but the ones that do turn out melt my heart. Sometimes I just can't stand all this cuteness!
Not great but it was the best we could get.
I love this one and the next 2 of Libby swishing her skirt. Oh she is SO stinking cute!
Libby wants to be just like James and do everything that he does. She seems to have little or no fear. She just goes for it. Sometimes she realizes in the middle of whatever she is doing that its dangerous and she is stuck. However sometimes I find her in very precarious situations. Like this morning. Libby has an affinity for the stairs. It is a daily game trying to keep her away. Anyway I ran upstairs this morning to put a few things away. I was gone for less than a minute. When I came back down stairs, Libby was sitting on the table in between the couches. She had climbed up the stairs far enough to reach over and pull herself up onto the table.
Another case in point. James has a little giraffe on wheels. Lately he loved doing tricks, standing on the seat then lifting one foot high in the air, jumping off, etc. Libby has been trying to do her own tricks.
She loves doing this. Of course she has fallen many times but that hasn't seemed to deter her in the slightest.
The weekend before school started the county fair was here in Spanish Fork. We decided to take the kids. The night we went there weren't many people there which was super nice. We didn't have to wait in any lines for the rides James loved the motorcycles. We also saw the animals which is always a highlight for James but the thing he loved most was the Lego display. They had moving trains and everything. He was so sad when he had to leave.
That Friday we headed down to Manti to go camping. It was unbelievably hot but it was still fun. James loved playing in the dirt and Libby was so upset when we wouldn't let her eat it. There was also a little playground that the kids loved. Not exactly extreme camping. Drew and Paige came down to have dinner with us and hangout. They are so much fun to hangout with! We have a 4-man tent but the pac-n-play took up a lot of room. Gregg, James, and I were squished. It wasn't too bad but we'll definitely have to upgrade.
